It won’t be long now. Temperatures are going to be in the 40’s and 50’s all week. After the bitter cold those temperatures will feel like early summer. In just a few months it will be warm enough to head north again.
These days are numbered but I’m enjoying them while they last.
The sun shines bright in Arizona but sometimes there are cloudy days. Even with the clouds the sun shines bright. I see this as a lesson in life. Today is a cloudy day for me in terms of current life events that I can’t control. I could focus on those clouds or I could be thankful for life and the fact that the sun will still continue to shine.
One of my favorite places to walk is the Lefurge Woods Nature Preserve in Ypsilanti, MI.
I grew up not far from here but didn’t discover the trails until fairly recently, last summer, even though I passed it countless times while driving into Ypsilanti to visit my mother. I’ve always liked nature trails but I guess I didn’t realize this place was anything other than a quick overlook into wetlands. In fact the preserve has two parts one with longer trails and a hill and another spot about a half mile away shown in this picture.
I think one day on our way to Ypsilanti my youngest said something about the large hill with a small parking area mentioning it would be a great place to fly a kite. Shortly after we purchased the first of many kites and set off to the hill. It took a few kites but we managed several visits to the preserve with successful flights most times.
I’ve spent many hours here with my kids flying kites, walking around exploring and sometimes by myself where I would walk and think. I guess I discovered this trail during a time when things started to really change and I needed to think often. I wish the snow would melt and the warm air would return so I could go back.
Heading out today in cold snowy weather for two inspections my mind goes straight to days of sunshine and warm weather.

I like these pictures better. The shadow and dark background well what’s that all about? These images invoke happiness and contentment and that’s what I want to see when I log on here.
I need to figure out how to stop each post from jumping straight to facebook as I don’t think each one needs to be posted on my timeline, that’s annoying.
The header image was taken in Good Hart Michigan a couple years ago. The bottle, Honkers Ale and the book The Old Man and the Sea. That’s actually the first time I read that book even though it’s old and probably something many people read as a kid? I don’t know. I’m looking forward to going back in a month and I hope it’s as good a vacation as it was then.
