It won’t be long now. Temperatures are going to be in the 40’s and 50’s all week. After the bitter cold those temperatures will feel like early summer. In just a few months it will be warm enough to head north again.
This guy was quick. Flying around flowers then stopping mid-air to feed, I tried several times to get a photo but they were all blurry. That’s what happens when you don’t figure out how to adjust shutter speed. I’m not sure what it is, a bird or some kind or insect? He looked like a cross between a hummingbird and a bumblebee. I felt compelled to get closer but the thought of getting stung kept me at a good distance.
-edit- Thanks to Nora Locke I now know this is a Hummingbird Moth. Thank you!
It’s the things we do on a whim that create the best memories. A few months ago it was warm enough to walk around in shorts, swim and rent a canoe. This canoe trip was not planned but ended up being one of my best memories of the trip I took with my boys.
I’d like to go back to this time and hit pause.
