Sunset

The sun setting on Lake Michigan. Our dog Otis on the beach making sure things are in order and the family safe for the night, he’s always so concerned about us. I miss this vacation, heck I miss all my vacations. This one was special though, the last family vacation. I think it’s going to always be that week I look back on and smile about. I knew going in it would be the last so the mood was bittersweet but I made the most of it.

Can

Can found on the beach. Back when you had to actually use a can opener to enjoy your beer.

UNIDENTIFIED SEA CREATURE WASHES ASHORE IN MICHIGAN!

Beach CreatureSo the heading is a bit dramatic and a lie. This “creature” is my youngest son though sometimes he acts only partially human.

This photo was taken over the summer on the shores of Lake Michigan in Ludington. We covered him in sand while discussing Creepshow and suggesting he hold his breath. It sounds morbid I know but it was of course all in good (guy) humor.

In truth there was less than a foot of sand over him allowing for an easy escape. The end result looked more like something washed up on the shore rather than a scene from the movie.

Lake Superior

The sand along Lake Superior is fine with a layer of black just below the surface. This photo was taken this summer while on vacation along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Summer Fun

I’ve never been a fan of swings. Even as a child I was limited to a minute or less even though they looked so fun; I would get motion sickness quickly. My daughter doesn’t share this trait though. Her plan is to always go as high as she can.

That’s better

I like these pictures better. The shadow and dark background well what’s that all about? These images invoke happiness and contentment and that’s what I want to see when I log on here.

I need to figure out how to stop each post from jumping straight to facebook as I don’t think each one needs to be posted on my timeline, that’s annoying.

The header image was taken in Good Hart Michigan a couple years ago. The bottle, Honkers Ale and the book The Old Man and the Sea. That’s actually the first time I read that book even though it’s old and probably something many people read as a kid? I don’t know. I’m looking forward to going back in a month and I hope it’s as good a vacation as it was then. Image
