I’ve always been impressed with how clear the water is in Lake Michigan on a calm day. This photo was taken under water while on vacation up in Good Hart. Clear water can be misleading though when you look down making things appear closer than they are.
As the tide goes in and out the shore along this beach brought silt in which settled forming long paths of clay. When following these “paths” it almost looks like ancient roads from a lost city. Some portions of the clay are small enough to carry to the surface.
The stones appear to be almost within arms reach however they’re at least 10 feet down.
We made several attempts to bring stones to the surface, sometimes with success but often times with no luck. The thing is it’s not hard to reach them them but once down there they are bigger than you think and trying to bring one to the surface is no easy task.
