Despite the accusations, and possibility of truth in them, I’m saddened to see him go. I’m not going to say I’ve been a "loyal" fan over the years but I’ve admired his music. I think part of the connection was just from associating his music with certain times in my childhood. When I think of those happy points his music is connected with those memories.

Sitting on the front porch on a hot summer day, eating one of Mrs. Mackey’s ice creme cones, I think of the fake MJ glove I used to wear. It was really one of my moms "dress" gloves made of silver or gold thread. Sixth grade camp is another one of those childhood highlights. I remember John dancing to "Billie Jean" during one of our dance nights and how we were all so impressed with his moves. Even when it wasn’t really "cool" to be an MJ fan anymore I still pumped out his tunes in my first car.

I can’t imagine the surrounding destruction from this truck bomb. What a helluva crazy way to get your point across.

BAGHDAD – A truck bomb exploded as worshippers left a Shiite mosque in northern Iraq on Saturday, killing more than 70 people and wounding nearly 200 in the deadliest bombing this year.

The blast near Kirkuk — a city rife with ethnic tensions — came hours after the prime minister warned Iraqis to expect more violence as U.S. troops withdraw from Iraqi cities by the end of this month, but he insisted the deadline will be met "no matter what happens."

Contemplating another northern vacation. Sure there are places I’ve never seen south of Michigan but each year I want to head up north. The question is where to stay? I want something lakeside yet out of the public eye. I want to drive down a dirt road between tall pines to reach it so I don’t hear anything but birds in the morning.

I’m thinking Drummond Island.
